LS2 Derinton names new GM

by Stuart Wilson, Wednesday 2 April 2008

LS2 Corporation has named Rajiv Srivastava as the new general manager of its IT distribution arm, LS2 Derinton. Srivastava brings more than two decades of sales, marketing, product and retail management to his new post. LS2 Derinton is focused on the distribution of Acer kit through retail channels in the Middle East and channel development in Africa. In his new role, Srivastava will assume responsibility for the development of the company’s strategy and business development across the region.

Prior to linking up with LS2 Derinton, Srivastava worked for the Al Abbas Group handling their business with Hyundai Electronics. Srivastava has also worked for Jumbo Electronics as a senior manager where he was involved in inventory, purchasing, export, retail management, budgeting, manpower planning and sales and marketing. Srivastava’s action-packed CV also includes stints with Indian outfits Olympia and Onida.

LS2 Corporation claims that its annual turnover now exceeds US$49m a year. The company has operations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat and offers consulting, infrastructure, distribution and systems integration services to its client. LS2 Derinton was created in summer 2007 when Derinton’s IT distribution was transferred to the new entity, LS2 Derinton, which is jointly owned and managed by LS2 and Derinton. LS2 Derinton’s retailer client list includes some of the biggest names in the regional IT space including Cellucom, Emax, i2 and Sharaf DG.

LS2 is in turn supported by Pragma Group International, which has provided the capital to fund LS2’s rapid recent expansion. Pragma Group bills itself as a holding company with operations with direct subsidiaries and venture funding for multiple companies including some in technology retail and distribution, and mobile handset and telecom distribution.

LS2 has channel operations in other Middle East and African countries for its distribution business. The growth strategy of LS2 is based on incubation of green field operations as well as through mergers and acquisitions. According to the company website, “The success of LS2 is attributed to aggressively launching new businesses and investing in entrepreneurs and managers whose ideas and value systems are consistent with those of LS2’s vision.”

The top executives behind LS2 include managing director Arvind Agrawal, a well know figure in the Middle East IT channel. Agrawal’s distinguished CV includes senior positions at Jumbo Electronics, HP and IBM. Joseph Tabet heads Pragma Group. As president of Pragma, Tabet also has a wealth of channel experience including over a decade with Emirates Computers and stints at Dell distributor Technoworld and integrator Hyperlink.
