Tarsus and Platinum Micro to merge

Two of South Africa’s largest distributors, Tarsus Technologies and Platinum Micro, will officially merge their operations on October 1st 2013. Both companies form part of the MB Technologies Group. The merger takes place ahead of MB Technologies’ planned December 2013 move to a new 30,000 square metre warehouse and distribution facility in Waterfall Commercial District, Woodmead, Gauteng, South Africa.

Neil Rom, managing director at Platinum Micro, said: “The merger will result in a South African IT distribution partner focused on providing enhanced value to our customers. By combining resources and assets under one roof our offering is strengthened significantly and builds on our existing platform and initiatives to provide forward-thinking solutions to our customers.”

“We will provide greater efficiencies in distribution, management, operations and overall service delivery. In addition, product portfolios will be integrated and expanded to provide an unmatched product offering,” he added.

Platinum Micro distributes products from AOC, Asus, AVG, Billion, Intel, Kingston, Microsoft, Legion, Samsung, Seagate, Targus, Trust, Yealink and Vkom. Tarsus distributes a portfolio of products that includes Acer, AOC, APC, Asus, Blackberry enterprise server, Cisco, Dell, Eaton, HP, Kaspersky, Lenovo, Microsoft, Netgear, OKI, Onyx, Port Designs, Riverbed, Samsung and Symantec.
