Buffalo bullish on Middle East prospects

by Stuart Wilson, Monday 18 May 2009

Storage and networking products vendor Buffalo is ready to ramp up its distribution network and extend its retail channel reach. Buffalo Advantec, the Jebel Ali-based joint venture Middle East operation established in 2008, is attending this week’s Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) MEA to meet hundreds of senior retail channel executives from across the region.

Jasem Al Roomi, director at Buffalo Advantec, said: ”This new company [Buffalo Advantec] now covers the GCC and adjacent Middle Eastern countries. We have also recently appointed King Computers as our distributor in the UAE and are in the process of appointing additional distributors in other countries across the region in 2009.”

Buffalo is attending DCC MEA to showcase the latest additions to its range of storage, multimedia and wireless products. The company will also meet and network with its peers, existing retail partners and look to expand its retail and SMB reseller base across the region.

“As we expand our product categories to include more and more solutions for the SMB sector, the profile of our retail partners needs to widen to include those that cater to this burgeoning sector,” explained Al Roomi. “DCC MEA also gives us the opportunity to understand how the market is changing and get an overview of trends in the industry and region.”

The GCC markets remain a strategic priority for Buffalo Advantec with Saudi Arabia top of its agenda. Buffalo reckons that it continues to lead the way from a technical perspective and the company remains committed to developing long-term partnerships with retailers and resellers alike.

Buffalo Advantec continues to see healthy double-digit growth rates in the Middle East despite the recent economic challenges.

“Buffalo is a channel driven company. We are very careful not to over saturate the market with partners,” added Al Roomi. “Our objective is to build long-term partnerships with our retail and system integration partners. As we expand our product range into the SMB segment – our partner network too is expanding to include business-to-business partners across the Middle East.”
