Belkin buoyed by first half growth

Peripherals and accessories vendor Belkin is growing its Middle East and Africa (MEA) sales at a dramatic pace. Belkin, which offers a massive portfolio of 3,500 products, recorded MEA sales in the first half of fiscal year 2009 more than double the revenues achieved during the whole of fiscal year 2008. Belkin reckons it can continue its strong sales growth and will attend Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) in May 2009 to further strengthen its relationships with the region’s top retailers.

Youssef El-Arif, national account manager MEA at Belkin, said: “DCC MEA has become the annual rendezvous for senior decision makers in the consumer electronics, digital device and ICT products retail channel in the MEA region.”

“It is an opportunity to meet with partners and customers to discuss the latest development in Belkin portfolio and future directions. It is also a great opportunity to learn about the new trends in the region and meet potential future partners,” he added.

Belkin offers an extensive range of innovations that it claims give computer and consumer electronics users seamless integration in their homes, cars, and on the go. Belkin’s product portfolio is split into eight categories: networking; mobility,; computing and connectivity; mobile computing; access solutions; infrastructure solutions, audio-video and power.

Belkin believes that all countries in MEA have great opportunities for expansion and growth, despite the current turbulent times. Belkin’s strategy is to work with partner to identify the products and opportunities that are within the partner’s best interest, and then create a business and marketing plan that assists the partner in moving the products.

“Belkin provides its partner with all the required marketing and sales support elements including training, POS, catalogues, promotions and SPIFFS. Belkin also provides its partners with a more strategic assistance related to stock monitoring and moving, regularly updated lists of the fastest moving products and joint plans for sales-in and sales-out,” explained El-Arif.

Belkin recently introduced its certified partners programme in the Middle East. This is a combination of online and offline training and certification that is designed to improve the skills of the partners’ sales teams. Belkin plans to continue investing in its partners and assisting them with variety of sales, marketing and training programmes and initiatives in 2009.
