DISTREE Channel Week format unveiled for Russia & CIS

Channel development in Russia & CIS will become a whole lot easier in 2009 with the launch of the first ever DISTREE Channel Week from June 17th to 19th in Moscow.

The event unites Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) with Digital Business Channel (DBC) in one super sized format, letting vendors and channel partners achieve more in a shorter period of time.

“The move to run two successful events simultaneously reflects the significant structural changes currently occurring in the Russian business and consumer channels,” explained Frederic Simard, CEO at DISTREE Events.

“We wanted to create a format that will allow both vendors and business partners – be they resellers, retailers or even distributors – to achieve the maximum business benefits in the shortest period of time possible. This is a unique chance to meet senior executives from all channels in the Russia & CIS region,” he added.

Proven success

Now in its 6th year, DBC focuses on SMB-focused routes to market for ICT products and solutions in Russia & CIS, allowing vendors to meet VARs and resellers from across this vast region. Running in parallel is the 6th annual DCC covering the CE & ICT retail channel. This retail-focused event allows vendors to meet hundreds of senior retail executives from across the entire Russia & CIS region and has established itself as the premier regional event for the retail channel.

“The Russian market has developed rapidly in recent years, driven by a prolonged period of economic prosperity, and this allowed channel companies to expand at a rapid rate and diversify their business activities,” added Simard.

“We have now entered a new stage of market maturity where companies must assess their core competencies, streamline their businesses and focus on getting the fundamentals right,” he added. “DISTREE Channel Week will provide the perfect platform for vendors to assess the suitability of their existing partners or actively recruit new partners to fulfill their channel ambitions – both from a consumer and a business perspective.”

Across Russia & CIS, retailers are looking to streamline their business activities and focus on profitability rather than just pure sales growth and business expansion. Inevitably, some companies will not make it through the current economic turmoil.

Extensive research

DCC prides itself on inviting the retailers that will continue to influence channel development in Russia & CIS, offering vendors the opportunity to meet the retail partners that can successfully take their products to market. The DCC retailer database is constantly updated with special focus on the financial and business stability of each company. More than 120 carefully vetted retailers are set to attend DISTREE Channel Week, representing more than 25,000 retail outlets.

Likewise, the organisers of DISTREE Channel Week have deployed extensive resources to update the database of VARs and SMB resellers that will be invited to attend the DBC part of the event. Approximately 80 resellers are forecast to attend DBC with each company carefully checked to ensure that they serve the needs of vendors addressing this segment of the market.
