Toshiba targets Middle East retail channel

by Stuart Wilson, Wednesday 25 March 2009

Toshiba Europe’s storage device decision will attend Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) MEA in May to showcase its portfolio of products to retail channel executives from across the Middle East. Toshiba now offers its own line of portable external hard disk drives, which it claims combine style with uncompromising hard disk drive technology.

Susan Nowack, European marcom manager at Toshiba Europe’s storage device division, said: “We are attending DCC to showcase our product range, strengthen business relationships with our current partners and build relationships in growing territories with potential new partners. It is important to engage with local businesses and local cultures firsthand.“

“Toshiba Europe storage device division is a committed vendor to our select retailers. We believe in mutual respect, listening to what our local partners are saying, exchanging ideas and cultivating a profitable business environment,” she added

“We do offer a structured channel programme as well as a range of tools and services to help our partners stay focused, on track and profitable. We understand that the market is tough. Therefore, we offer programmes to the channel to support our select distribution partners. We also provide full marketing support free-of-charge in terms of joint promotion, push-pull initiatives and co-branding,” Nowack continued.

“Last but not least, we ensure that our retailers are informed and work together with us in optimising our integrated marketing and channel development activities,” she concluded.

Toshiba’s external hard drives have already proved popular in the Middle East market and the company hopes to continue its sales growth in 2009. With more than 100 senior retail executives from 15-plus countries attending DCC MEA, the event offers vendors insight into markets across the region and the opportunity to accelerate or improve their go-to-market retail strategy.

The ‘Middle East Retail Academy: 2009 Awards’ Gala Dinner and live voting session will also take place at DCC MEA on 20th May 2009. The awards, which are held in conjunction with DCC MEA, recognise excellence in the region’s consumer electronics and IT retail channel. A total of 22 awards are up for grabs in 2009 with categories for vendors, retailers and distributors.

For more information on DCC MEA please visit the event website. Qualifying retailers receive free accommodation, meals and airport transfers for the event. Please note that vendor spaces are strictly limited at DCC MEA and are available on a first come first served basis.
