Best Buy eyes new sales channels

Spain-based consumer electronics and computer products vendor Best Buy (not to be confused with the US retail giant) will look to open up new retail channels for its extensive portfolio at DISTREE XXL 2009. Best Buy plans to take full advantage of DISTREE XXL’s one-on-one meeting scheduler to identify and meet the importers, distributors and retailers across the EMEA theatre that can open and develop new channels to market.

Oscar González, commercial director at Best Buy, said: “We want to identify the distributor and importer contacts that have the ability to sell in to retail channels. We are interested in markets across EMEA but believe it will be easier to enter some of the new emerging economies such as Estonia, Poland and Lithuania.”

Best Buy reckons that its products represent an excellent business opportunity for partners with experience in the retail sector, a strong market presence and the ability to deliver significant sales volumes. Best Buy also operates a loyalty programme for its customers and offers a structured channel programme.

“The margin that we can offer customers is more than reasonable and in line with the current market offerings,” added González. “We also offer marketing funds to customers to support the cost of advertising campaigns and similar expenses.”

Best Buy reckons that its experience in the relatively mature Spanish market will serve it well in terms of defining an effective strategy for emerging markets. The company’s channel strategy is founded on building a ‘win-win’ business relationship with channel partners.

“We have a strong position in the complex and mature Spanish market.” Said González. “There is now a unique opportunity for us to expand into new markets in EMEA and DISTREE XXL is the platform for finding the partners to collaborate with.”
