Sofyx, a social commerce platform for general traders dealing in smartphones and accessories, has launched in India. Sofyx aims to reach out to the estimated 300,000-plus small retailers in India selling mobile phones, bringing together the reseller community along with other stakeholders like telecom operators, device manufacturers, distributors, and other vendors on a single platform.

Distributor Tech Data has launched a new subscription-based managed security solution for endpoint mobility as part of the RECON Security Suite. The new offering will be available in Europe and combines IBM’s MaaS360 and Watson unified endpoint management platform with technology from Lookout, a leading provider of cloud-based security software for mobile devices.

Distributor Exertis has appointed Andy Jones as business development manager (BDM) for its Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) proposition, reporting to Rik Hubbard, Exertis, commercial and services director for mobile. Jones joins from Tech Data where he spent more than three years in a business development role. Hubbard said: “DaaS is becoming an increasingly interesting option for companies by reducing the complexity and costs of device procurement and deployment.”

DISTREE EMEA drives new distribution deals
DISTREE Events has revealed the findings of its post-event distributor research* for DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) 2018, which took place in Monaco in February. Based on this year’s findings, there was an average of 4.02 signed distribution agreements per exhibitor at DISTREE EMEA 2018, with a further 4.27 currently under negotiation for each participating brand.
