GTDC CEO announces retirement

The Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) has announced that its CEO, Tim Curran, is retiring from the organisation after leading its development over the past 16 years. From his appointment to the position in 2002 to this year, Curran has focused on creating better awareness and understanding of distribution’s growing impact and value worldwide. Read full story

New TacoBot stackable robot targets STEM toy market

Demand for smart educational toys continues to grow in markets across EMEA, leading to a wave of new products coming to market. Distributors, retailers and e-tailers are also starting to take note, expanding their portfolios in response. One of the latest products under development is Tacobot, an easy-to-programme robot that can play stimulating games and makes learning coding skills easy for young children. Tacobot is currently running a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Tacobot is offering what it claims is the world’s first stackable coding robot aiming to bring kids an intuitive and interesting start to STEM learning. Read full story

Smart Home, Gaming, Mobile Devices & Audio identified as top growth categories by EMEA consumer tech channel

DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) has released preliminary findings from its 2018 EMEA Consumer Tech Channel Survey. Smart Home, Gaming & Gaming Accessories, Mobile Devices and Audio (Headphones & Speakers) were identified as the product categories with the most growth potential in EMEA in 2019, according to this year’s survey. Hundreds of distributors, retailers and e-tailers participated in the annual DISTREE EMEA survey. Read full story

DISTREE EMEA drives new distribution deals

DISTREE Events has revealed the findings of its post-event distributor research* for DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) 2018, which took place in Monaco in February. Based on this year’s findings, there was an average of 4.02 signed distribution agreements per exhibitor at DISTREE EMEA 2018, with a further 4.27 currently under negotiation for each participating brand.
